Alarms
False security and fire alarms put emergency responders at needless risk, and
draw them away from helping people in need. Each year, Upper Providence
receives hundreds of false alarms. The township’s alarm ordinance
is meant to encourage residents to maintain their alarm systems
in a way that avoids false alarms.
If emergency responders receive more than three false alarms from any system,
the township’s alarm ordinance provides for the following penalties:
- First offense, $50
- Second offense, $75
- Third offense, $100
- Any subsequent offense, $200
To avoid violations, please:
- Contact your alarm company when the system malfunctions
- Review procedures with your family and employees
- Notify police in advance of alarm testing
