Building Permits and Licensing

Upper Providence Township has adopted Act 45, which adopts the Uniform Construction Code. The Uniform Construction Code incorporates the 2009 International Building Code and the 2009 International Residential Code.

• Enforcement hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday
• Inspections made between 9:00 a.m. and noon

Residents must obtain a building permit for (but not limited to):

• New buildings and homes
• Sheds
• Barns
• Garages
• Patios with footers
• Gazebos
• Decks
• Fences
• Additions or structural alterations
• Yard sales
• Burning (recreational fires)
• In-ground and above ground pools
• Roofing

Residents should display permits in a front window throughout construction and should call for an inspection 24 hours in advance. They can also ask the receptionist for information regarding the right of way, easements, and floodplains.
