Public Works
Compost Site

The Upper Providence Public Works department will offer free mulch and compost to township residents at the township compost site located on 1094 Longford Road. See seasonal hours of operation at right.

Residents can bring leaves, grass clippings, ornamental stumps, branches (up to 5 inches in diameter), and Christmas trees to be recycled and turned into mulch and compost. You do not need to bag these items. You may not leave items in plastic bags.

Compost Site is always looking for Leaves!

Before you bag and put your leaves to the curb, Upper Providence public compost site is looking for leaves at their compost facility. Leaves should be separated from all branches.
*Plastic bags will not be accepted.

Leaves are an important component for making a nutrient compost because:

  1. Trees have extensive root systems, and leaves are the recipient of all nutrients gathered from soil.
  2. Leaves are highly fibrous. They improve soil aeration and composition.
