Upper Providence Township is currently developing an Active Transportation Plan and Complete Streets Policy which will identify projects and strategies for improving walking and biking opportunities throughout the community. The Active Transportation Plan will build upon previous efforts to identify priority bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure improvements. Such improvements will close key gaps in the sidewalk and trail network and enable residents and visitors to safely travel about the township regardless of their transportation mode. The Complete Streets Policy will be a key step in implementing the Active Transportation Plan by setting the stage for Upper Providence Township to prioritize moving people rather than just moving cars. It will include strategies to establish a balanced transportation network, equitably allocate funding, educate staff and decision makers, enable public participation, and build partnerships with implementation partners.
The Active Transportation Plan and Complete Streets Policy is being developed concurrently with the Comprehensive Plan Update and Parks and Recreation Plan. All of these documents are intended to be adopted this fall. To provide input or learn more about the Active Transportation Plan, please visit https://walkuprovmontco.mindmixer.com. A public open house to gather input will be held when township meetings resume.
