News for Immediate Release Upper Providence Township, Montgomery Co. PA May 26, 2017 Armed Robbery On May 26, 2017 at 2:38 am, Montgomery County Police Radio received a report of a robbery in progress at the Wawa store located on Route 29 in Upper Providence Township. The robbery had occurred at gun point. Additional information provided about the robbery included a description that the suspect was a male, who was wearing a bandana on his face and camouflage style pants. The suspect was also in possession of two handguns and was last seen fleeing the store on foot. This information was dispatched to Upper Providence Township Police Officers who responded. An Upper Providence Township Police Officer responding to the Wawa store observed a vehicle at the intersection of Perkiomen Boulevard and Route 29, which was nearby to the Wawa store. The vehicle was stopped due to an individual fitting the description of the robbery suspect to be inside the car along with other individuals. This suspect was positively identified by a witness as the man responsible for the robbery. Two black BB gun pistols were recovered from the car, along with cash. It was further learned that a customer, who was at the counter of the store at the time of the robbery, was also robbed and threatened with a handgun by the suspect. The occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody. Further investigation by Upper Providence Township Police resulted in charges brought against some of the vehicle occupants. Charged with robbery, conspiracy, theft, receiving stolen property, possession instruments of crime and terroristic threats were: Steven Crews 20 years old Coatesville, PA Todd Dais 22 years old Downingtown, PA. UPDATE 5/26/2017 A third subject in the vehicle was found to be wanted by multiple jurisdictions for other crimes. Crews and Dais were arraigned before Montgomery County District Justice Christopher Cerski and bail was set at $99,000.00. Both suspects were remanded to Montgomery County Prison in lieu of bail.
