Upper Providence Township is pleased to announce the appointment of Don Kelly as its new Public Works Director.

With over 23 years of experience working for the township, Kelly brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role.

Kelly's journey with Upper Providence Township began in 1997 when he joined as a public works laborer. Over the years, he worked in various areas of public works and in 2011, he became the Building and Grounds Foreman, responsible for maintaining all township buildings, properties, and parks. In 2020, he was promoted to Assistant Public Works Director, where he managed a team of 14 individuals.

Prior to joining Upper Providence Township, Kelly attended Spring-Ford and Western Montgomery technical school for welding and graduated in 1983. He then worked in his family's automobile, truck repair, and fabrication shop before taking on a job as a tractor-trailer driver delivering janitorial supplies to various states.

However, it was the events of September 11th that prompted Kelly to make a career change. Witnessing the collapse of the second World Trade Center tower, he realized that he wanted to do something more meaningful with his life. He applied for a job at Upper Providence Township and after a few months, he received a call asking if he was still interested in the position, and without hesitation, he accepted.

In addition to his dedication to public service, Kelly is also devoted to his family. He has been married to his high school sweetheart and they have two children together. They are also proud grandparents of five grandchildren who bring joy and excitement into their lives.

When not working or spending time with his family, Kelly enjoys hunting and fishing. He was raised with a strong sense of community service and helping others.

Upper Providence Township is confident that Don Kelly will continue to serve the community with the same dedication and commitment he has shown throughout his 23 years of service. Please join us in welcoming him as our new Public Works Director.
