Today, members of the DFES, as well as the Black Rock Volunteer Fire Department. Sta. A and the Collegeville Fire Company responded to Route 422 East Bound (towards Oaks) for a reported accident with rescue. Pictured below is a photo of a pick-up truck (1 of 2 vehicles involved) that appeared to “rollover” multiple times. The driver, being injured, was extricated from the vehicle after the vehicle was cut apart and removed from around them. In this case, to prevent further injury to the driver, rescuers removed the doors, roof and windshield of the vehicle. Without removing the crushed and collapsed vehicle from around the driver, the injured occupant(s) would need to be “flexed” from under and around the different pieces of the vehicle potentially causing further injury. Unfortunately, regardless of the vehicle type, manufacturer or its safety features; occupants need to be extricated from their vehicles based on their injuries or suspected injuries. We wish the very best outcome for those involved.
