Burning for DISPOSAL purposes is ILLEGAL in Upper Providence Township and subject to fines.
This means that you cannot legally burn, regardless of the container being used, your trash, yard waste, demolition waste, insulation, shingles, treated wood, paint, painted or stained objects or furniture, tires, mattresses, box springs, metal, insulating coating on wire, television sets and appliances, automobiles, automotive parts, batteries, PVC products, waste oil, and other petroleum products.
Yard waste such as leaves, grass clippings, ornamental stumps and branches (up to 5 inches in diameter) can be taken to the Township’s
Compost Site.
Portable outdoor fireplaces are allowable where the material being burnt is exclusively firewood. Fires contained in portable outdoor fireplaces are to be used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
No portable outdoor fireplace shall be used within 15’ of a structure or combustible material.
All portable outdoor fireplaces shall be constantly attended until the fire is extinguished.
Fires creating or adding to a hazardous or objectionable situation may be ordered by any fire official or police officer to be extinguished.
